July 7, 2025 –<\/strong> As the New York Cosmos<\/a> name gears up for a widely rumored relaunch, fresh concerns have emerged regarding the historic swirl logo long associated with the club. Originally developed in the early 1970s by respected Atlanta-based artist Wayland Moore, the swirl has appeared on Cosmos merchandise and branding for decades.<\/p>\n

However, there appears to be no publicly verifiable evidence confirming a formal copyright transfer of Moore’s original work to Warner Communications or any subsequent Cosmos operators. Moore, who passed away in 2022, is still widely acknowledged as the swirl’s creator.<\/p>\n
