Gloria Kloter Taking the Architecture and Design World by Storm

From turning personal challenges and difficult odds around into pushing beyond boundaries and building a successful design and architecture brand, Gloria Kloter is an emerging industry leader worth watching. Gloria Kloter, AIA, NCARB, CODIA is an award-winning architect per-excellence who is well-versed in the design of commercial and residential projects. For a career that kick-started in 2004, Gloria Kloter has done well for herself and her business over the last decade.

Native of a small country, the Dominican Republic, Gloria Kloter never had things easy in her life. Her parents divorced when she was five. She grew up with her mom and sister, role models that taught her about resiliency and hard work. She took up jobs at a very young age and saw herself through college.

She moved to the United States after getting married to her husband Jeremy, a veteran from the US Marine Corps who is now a successful business owner and entrepreneur. When she got to the United States, she was dissuaded from getting her architecture license by people who told her it would be a waste of time. But Gloria paid them no attention, knowing what her goals were and how her bachelor’s and master’s degrees would serve her well. She tried and got her license to practice in the United States, which signaled the beginning of a new journey. Gloria is now the recipient of the AIA Tampa Bay Kelley Emerging Professional Award 2020, an honor award given to individuals who have demonstrated exemplary service above self to champion the causes and issues of associate members and young architects within the chapter, local community organizations and beyond.

With a bachelor’s degree in architecture design and a master’s degree in architecture of interiors, Gloria Kloter is a leader in the architecture and design industry and currently serves as the architect licensing advisor for AIA Florida. She also occupies a seat on the local AIA Tampa Bay chapter’s Board of Directors, where she chairs the Women in Architecture and Young Architect committees. She recently opened her architecture firm in the United States and had a baby on the 15th of June 2020. Through her company, Glow Architects, Gloria Kloter puts women architects in the spotlight and shows how much women can contribute to how the world is designed and laid out.

Gloria always finds a way to give back to the community and has been influential in helping foreign architects get the license to practice in the United States. She is inspiring every foreign architect, woman, and archi-mom who is thinking of giving up on their careers not to give up and to continue pushing through until they achieve their professional goals. She does individual mentorships and even created a private Facebook group called Foreign Architects, where she grooms and gives insights to up and coming architects from different parts of the world.

Her motivation to build a personal brand that can have a significant social impact beyond being just a profession pushed her to build Glow Architects. “Inspiring, serving, and giving back to others makes up the core of what I do. I like to make that known in my work, the types of projects I take on, and how I live my life. I want to inspire many foreign architects who have given up on their journey with the unique challenges of getting re-licensed in the US after many have come from other countries. Having a powerful brand is important because I’m so passionate about what I do, and I want to let the world know it,” Gloria explains.

Her future goals include building a team of successful designers where the culture is focused on building each other up while creating award-winning projects that positively impact the Tampa Bay community, Florida, and beyond.

Gloria Kloter’s story is an inspiring one. With dedication, hard work, and persistence, she is building a name that is already a force to reckon with in the architecture and design field.
