From the back cover:

Jules Westcott has a gray cloud hanging over her head, which she cannot shed. She has long left her childhood home in upstate New York for New York City, yet her worldview has been significantly shaped by childhood memories and experiences.

As a member of a rehabilitative team in a hospital, she is constantly mindful of others’ stories and needs and attempts to maximize their rehabilitative process. However, participation in their cycle of care prompts memories of her own hidden past to surface. She acknowledges her pain, but is unable to confront her ‘hanging cloud’. Without being fully cognizant of what is happening, recognition of the often dire situations of others generates the beginning of her inner healing.

Ultimately, it is through her interaction with an abused young patient that she unravels and confronts her past and permits herself to defeat her internal cycle of pain and conflict.

This is a story of healing through helping.
