1. LOVELAND (2019) – Written and directed by Ivan Sen

Set for release in November 2019, the US-Australia LOVELAND is a romantic sci-fi, set in a futuristic Chinese mega-city that is on the cusp of immorality and extinction. LOVELAND tells the story of two hardened souls, a nightclub singer and an assassin, who search for what it once was to be human, until it confronts them, revealing the true mystery of their existence. Would you choose to live forever if you had to live without love?

To be filmed in Hong Kong with the development of Screen Queensland, LOVELAND features Australian natives, Hugo Weaving (Lord of the Rings, V for Vendetta, The Matrix) and award-winning Ryan Kwanten (True Blood, Legend of the Guardians).

2. MADAM YANKELOVA’S FINE LITERATURE CLUB (2018) – Directed by Guilhad Emilio Schenker

As a bedtime story for the broken hearted, the tenderly twisted and the fed-up feminist, MADAM YANKELOVA’S FINE LITERATURE CLUB asks: What is going on behind the closed doors of the women-only secret club? First Rule: The lady with the best looking date wins. Second Rule: 100 wins turns a lady into a lordess. Third Rule: love is prohibited. So when Sophie falls in love with a mysterious man, she must choose between true love and her loyalty to the club.

Starring Alex Ansky (Orchestra of Exiles), Anita Bukstein (Game of Thrones), and Razia Israeli (Schindler’s List), MADAM YANKELOVA’S FINE LITERATURE CLUB has received several accolades including nomination for the Golden Zenith at the 2018 Montréal World Film Festival.

3. SOFTNESS OF BODIES (2018) – Directorial debut by Jordan Blady

As an interesting and unpredictable character drama, SOFTNESS OF BODIES evokes a sharp sense of rare humor, similar to its charmingly abrasive protagonist. SOFTNESS OF BODIES is a compelling tale that gets both darker and more seductive as it goes along. Following Charlotte “Charlie” Parks, an American poet living in Berlin with hopes of winning a prestigious poetry grant. But when the opportunity to legitimize both her life and career arises, Charlie’s often-complicated life tendencies resurface – her former relationships, a rival poet and even her own penchant for stealing things.

SOFTNESS OF BODIES premiered at the 2018 Los Angeles Film Festival, receiving the nominee for U.S. Fiction Award for Best Film. Featuring original poetry from Dasha Nekrasova (Wobble Palace, The Sound of Blue, Green and Red), who gives a raw and riveting performance, the dark comedy features Morgan Krantz (Babysitter, Neurotica), Moritz Vierboom (Vienna Waits For You, Still), Nadine Dubois (Goodbye Berlin, 37), Lena Reinhold (One Day Berlin, Non Petites Morts), Johannes Frick (Artist in Residence) and Matthias Renger.

4. HOUSE OF SWEAT AND TEARS (2018) – Written and directed by Sonia Escolano

Based on upon a real cult operating in Spain during the 1990s, HOUSE OF SWEAT AND TEARS (aka Casa de sudor y Lágrimas) is a tension-filled, atmospheric horror following the leader of a religious and violent cult. But when a mysterious man plagues the dreams of one of its devoted members, the struggle for power ensues. Will she maintain control of the cult? Or will this outsider corrupt them all?

Accompanied by stellar cinematography by Pepe De La Rose (Hubo un lugar), HOUSE OF SWEAT AND TEARS challenges the perceptions while deeply exploring the murky waters of religion, faith, belief, rebellion and power – all with limited dialogue. The film features Eudald Font (The Hunter’s Prayer, I Love Her), Pablo Suárez (Cold Skin, Realive) and Haydée Lysander (Black Hollow Cage). The elevated, Spanish horror recently competed in main competition at Fantastic Fest and screened at the 2018 Cannes Frontières Buyers Showcase.
